Local Attorney Discusses Ethics at Solid Waste Engineers’ Conference

May 8, 2014 at 4:16 PM

SPARTA, NJ-Last month Sparta Attorney Tom Prol addressed the Solid Waste Association of North America convention, in which engineering professionals gathered to hear the latest techiniqual know-how and ethical discussions on the importance of protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public.

Prol, who specializes in part on environmental matters at the law firm of Laddey Clark & Ryan LLP., spoke to the assembled professional engineers and environmental consultants on ethical issues, avoiding litigation and protecting the safety of the public.

“I was honored to lend my knowledge and experience to speak on the important responsibilities engineers and solid waste professional have,” says Prol. It is a privilege to help guide these frontline professionals in the proper behavior and conscientious action they need to undertake on projects built and operated for the public.”

Prol, who previously served in the enforcement division at the US Environmental Protection Agency represents the Sussex County MUA in Lafayette and recently joined law firm of Laddey Clark & Ryan LLP in Sparta, NJ.  He brings his decades of involvement and experience in environmental issues to bear at the Sussex County landfill in Lafayette and the wastewater treatment facility in Hamburg which services a number of towns in the County.

“SCMUA works hard to promote a healthy environment for the residents of Sussex County and stays abreast of cutting edge technologies and operations,” adds Prol. “For example, SCMUA collects methane gas from the landfill and, with a vendor, converts it to energy on-site, putting power into the electric grid, created as a result of the clean burning of that gas.”

The greenhouse gas emissions reduction from the project is equivalent to taking nearly 26,000 cars off the road, or the same amount of carbon naturally sequestered by about 29,000 acres of pine or fir forests.”

Prol continues to make environmental issues a priority in his career concentrating his legal work in environmental law public entity representation, business litigation and government services at Laddey Clark & Ryan LLP. For more information on Mr. Prol visit lcrlaw.com
