PATERSON, NJ - The already vibrant intersection of Montgomery Street and Summer Street in the city’s Fourth Ward welcomed a new business on Saturday.
Already populated by Jay’s Soft Touch Car Wash and Jay’s Laundromat owned by Jeff Robinson, a lifelong Paterson resident and a veteran of the Paterson Police Department, the neighborhood will now be home to a U-Haul franchise owned by Mark and Della Fischer.
“Paterson is on the move,” Mayor Andre Sayegh said jokingly in reference to the opening of the newest franchise of the nationally recognized self-moving and storage brand before adding more seriously “this truly is another indicator of the entrepreneurial spirit that exists in Paterson and is putting our city back on the map.”
The businesses, along with Montgomery Village, the 26-unit condominium building on one of the adjacent corners, keep the neighborhood “cohesive,” Della told TAPinto Paterson. “This is our village,” she added speaking to the connectivity that exists between the residents.
Asked about their decision to make the investment in Paterson Mark said that “the business community is growing in this city.” Crediting Sayegh’s leadership for helping to usher in good plans which, combined with action, he predicted, are going to make Paterson “thrive.”
Also stopping by to offer his good wishes was Fifth Ward Councilman Luis Velez who said that he frequented the car wash because the “offer good service, make customers feel good, and are part of Paterson.”
