Mountainside, NJ – On the final day of Liquid Church’s Camp Rock summer program, more than 350 local kids and volunteer counselors set a Guinness World Record for assembling the most hunger-relief kits.  Over 12,000 non-perishable food items were packed into plastic bags in a three-minute time period, effectively creating more than 1,100 food kits for those in need.

Collectively, the group shattered the previous record of 555 assembled hunger-relief kits in the same time frame, which was held by Walmart Stores, Inc. associates during their annual shareholders meeting in 2012.

“One of the key components that we are trying to teach is how to put your faith into action and that you can make an impact in your community, whether you are an elementary school kid or a corporate giant,” said Kenny Jahng, Media Pastor of Liquid Church.

“I think it was a great culmination of an exciting week for the kids to understand that it wasn’t just about having fun, but that they were having fun and actually helping people,” explained Richard Lee, a Scotch Plains resident and Mountainside Campus Pastor of Liquid Church.

The care packages were donated to My Neighbor’s Pantry, a local distribution hub for donated and federal food aid in Somerset, New Jersey.  According to Jangh, they typically service about 300 client families.

“In a world that’s all about me, me, me, it’s really nice to see the power of we,” Jahng added.
