The annual "Friend"ship Trail Ride is scheduled for Sunday, March 7, 2010 on the grounds of Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable at 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The hour-long ride will begin at 2:00 P.M., with check-in at 1:30 P.M.
This horseback event is open to riders at Intermediate 2/C-2 level and above. The guided ride is conducted at a walk, and all riders will be assigned horses.
Registration is available in the Stable office through Thursday, March 4, 2010. Riders are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee is $28.00 for Somerset County residents and $36.00 for non-residents. Certified ASTM/SEI riding helmets and boots or shoes with hard, smooth soles and a moderate and definite heel are required and may be rented in the stable office for $3.00 each.
The "Friend"ship ride is so named because participants will be back in time to attend the Friends of Lord Stirling Stable (FLSS) general membership meeting at 4 P.M., if they wish to do so. It's a great way to warm up while learning about a vital, dedicated group and their ongoing programs.
The FLSS is a 501(c)(3) organization of volunteers working with the Somerset County Park Commission to support the activities of Lord Stirling Stable through contribution of ideas, time, and revenue. Additional information about the Friends is available on the Internet at www.flssnj.org
