After her long winter’s nap, Lucy the Elephant will open and kick off her 2012 season Saturday March 31st at 10AM. For the month of April, Lucy is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 11 to 4, weekends 10 to 5, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Her seven day week schedule begins in May. Typically, the National Historic Landmark closes for the closer winter months after the Christmas holidays, but does open for President’s Day weekend in February. Looking for something fun and fit to do with the kids on Spring Break? Absecon Lighthouse will be open daily from Thursday, March 29th through Monday, April 16th from 11am to 4pm. The last climb is at 3:30pm. Go to www.abseconlighthouse.org and print off a special coupon for $1 off admission when you climb. The museum, grounds, and parking are all free.
Normal business hours will resume on April 19th , with the lighthouse being open Thursdays through Mondays, 11am to 4pm. First lit in 1857, Absecon Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and the third tallest in the country. It is the oldest man-made structure in Atlantic City, boasts a first-order Fresnel lens still in place at the top, and offers fabulous views of Atlantic City and Brigantine. Admission to climb the 228 steps to the top is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 4-12, and $3 for Atlantic City residents. Active Military are invited to climb for free. \
The Milton and Betty Katz JCC - Margate, NJ, presenters of the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series, announced Shore Medical Center has signed on as a major sponsor of the 2012 Atlantic City Marathon Race Series. The growing race series, which currently includes the April Fools Half Marathon on April 1, 2012, and the Atlantic City Marathon & Half Marathon on October 21, 2012, each consist of multiple race distances and weekend celebrations. Shore Medical Center will be the official naming sponsor of the April 11K and 7K races and the October 10K and 5K distances. Registration for both events is now open and can be completed online at www.acmarathon.org.
Shore Medical Center will also be sponsoring the 2012 Atlantic City Marathon pace team. The Shore Medical Pace Team, made up of 12 highly experienced marathon runners, will guide participants throughout the race. By following a Shore Medical Center Pace Team leader, runners will cross the finish line under two minutes of their goal finishing time. During the race, they will also remind runners to drink and eat, as well as offer words of encouragement. “We are excited to partner with the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series in helping to stage one of the premier sports-related events in South Jersey,” said Ron Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shore Medical Center.

About the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series: The Atlantic City Marathon Race Series is a division of the Milton and Betty Katz JCC, a non-profit organization based in Margate, New Jersey.
