The Millburn Special Education Parent Committee (MSPEC) is sponsoring a series of parenting workshops titled:  “Fostering Self-Esteem and Reducing Anxiety through Positive Parenting”.  The workshops will be held on three dates: Thursday March 24, Thursday March 31 and Thursday April 7 from 9:30 until 11:30 at the Education Center 434 Millburn Avenue, Millburn.
All parents of preschool and elementary aged school children are welcome to sign up for a unique educational workshop experience that can change the way you parent! You can sign up for one day or all three.  This is an opportunity to work with local experienced psychologists Daniel H. Gallagher, Ph.D. and Neal Litinger, Ph.D. as they take parents through a three day workshop on positive parenting techniques and strategies in the home.

Topics that will be covered include reduced stress/anxiety for kids and parents, pro-active discipline approaches, workable behavior plans, calmer bedtimes, and parental consistency. Participants will hear a model of “no-failure” paths to self-esteem and achievement while enhancing self-concept, self-esteem, and confidence.  The premise of these educational workshops is that these goals are achievable when parents understand the ways in which they can influence/teach these processes at home in a family setting.

Cost for these sessions is $20/session, or $45 for all 3.  You can register by logging onto MSPEC’s website at and download from the “Registration Form” link.  The form should be printed, completed and mailed with a check payable to Millburn PTOC to Laura Bencivenga, Attn: Parenting Workhop, 23 Claremont Drive, Short Hills, NJ 07078.  Questions can be emailed to
