NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team fell to North Brunswick High School on Tuesday, 42-34. Spotswood's loss drops the team's overall record to 8-16. Over the weekend, junior Maddie Hellerich was named to the first All-Blue Division team while senior Savannah Robinson earned second team honors.

Hellerich netted 229 points and 59 assists in 23 games this season. The junior also pulled down 194 rebounds, blocked 22 shots and had 53 steals. Hellerich has 606 career points in 72 games as a Chargers. The Milltown native is also a member of the cross country and spring track and field teams.

Robinson dropped 216 points and notched 59 assists in 23 games for Spotswood this winter. The senior had 33 steals, blocked 16 shots and grabbed 57 rebounds. Robinson scored a career-high 26 points in the Chargers January 7 game against Metuchen High School. Robinson is also a member of the varsity softball squad.

Spotswood has one regular season game remaining on the schedule. The Chargers take the court against Princeton High School on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. Spotswood is the 11th seed in the upcoming Central Jersey Group Two NJSIAA Girls Basketball Tournament, which gets underway next week. The Chargers travel to Roselle to play Abraham Clark High School at 4 p.m. The Rams have an overall record of 13-8 and were 4-6 in the UCC-Sky Division.
