The Madison Education Foundation (MEF) is encouraging all area residents to join the 11th Annual Madison 5K Run/Walk/Kids’ Fun Runs on Sunday, May 4 at Madison High School (MHS),170 Ridgedale Avenue, Madison. Check-in begins at 9 a.m.; the 5K race starts at 10 a.m. Kids’ Fun Runs (10 and under) take place at 11 a.m. on the high school track.
Pre-registration is encouraged and available online at www.mefnj.org. Registration is $50 for family; $22 adult (18 and up); $19 (USATF); $12 youth (17 and under). Race Bag pick-up will be available on Friday, May 2nd from 9:30 am to 6 pm and Saturday, May 3rd from 9:30 am to 5 p.m. at Starting Line Sports' new location, 40 Main St., Madison. Bags can also be picked up on the morning of the race at Madison High School and walk-ins are welcome.
The event offers something for everyone: a certified 5K road race, Kids’ Fun Runs, tricky tray raffle and entertainment for the whole family. Funds raised through this annual event will go towards grants that energize the creative and academic lives of students but are above and beyond the school budget. MEF has awarded more than $680,000 across all five Madison schools since its inception in 2003. The Foundation is currently reviewing teacher grant requests from its third grant cycle – more than $50,000 has been awarded this year.
