Madison Area YMCA Mariners Shine at Sunkissed Invitational

The Madison Area YMCA Mariner swim team ranked eighth at the Sunkissed Jr/Sr Invitational in Charlotte, NC. The Mariners finished 41 races in the top 16 slots. The April event attracted more than 1,600 swimmers from as far away as Georgia and South Dakota.

 The following Mariners placed first:

  • Emily McGovern, 13, from Chatham, in the Under Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.85. 
  • Mark Berger, 13, from Madison, in the 13 and Under Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.32. 
  • Jackie Crater, 13, from Chatham ; Chloe Markey, 12, from Florham Park; Nicole Tingley, 13, from Chatham; Megan Healey, 13, from Florham Park with a time of 4:10.74 in the13 and Under Girls 400 Medley Relay.
  •  Jackie Crater, 13, from Chatham, in the13 and Under Girls 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:02.00. 

Overall, 17 of the 22 Mariners that attended the meet swam fast enough to score points for the team. Mariners that participated in the team’s great success: Grace Amend, 12, from Chatham; Tyler Botsford, 13, from Chatham;  Stephanie Crater, 13, from Chatham; Maggie Holman, 12, from Chatham; Samantha Ho, 12, from Morris Plains; Olivia Hunt, 10, from Madison; Olivia Lamb, 14, from Madison; Megan Lucas, 14, from Florham Park; Sydney Lucas, 16, from Florham Park; Faith Markey, 14, from Florham Park; Miles Markey, 15, from Florham Park; Ellie Martine, 14, from Madison; Devin McPeek, 14, from Andover; Sarah Penrice, 12, from Morris Township; Chloe Tempest, 13, from Chatham; Kathryn Visco, 13, from Chatham.
