The Madison Area YMCA staff has donated $25, 462, handily exceeding its target for the Y's 2013 Annual Campaign.
Through the leadership of Staff Appeal chairpersons Jennifer Casanova, Laura Gloss, Lisa Kowal, and Karen Sikes generous donations from 213 staff members at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center and Family Center, 100 of which were first time donors, contributions surpassed last year’s staff campaign total by more than $3,300. In 2012, 182 staff contributed $22,140 by the close of the staff appeal.
“Our staff has led the way for a robust start to this year’s campaign,” said Diane Mann, President and CEO of the Madison Area YMCA. “Staff members recognize they are making a difference in people’s lives. Every single gift helps children and families in need by providing financial assistance for Y membership, early childhood education, child care, summer day camps and programs.”
The Annual Campaign raises awareness and funds for the Y’s financial assistance program that enables children and families to participate in Y programs and services regardless of their abilities to pay. The campaign is one of the ways that allows the Y to provide assistance to anyone who resides or works within the Madison Area YMCA’s service area. Support is provided based on demonstrated need, with the goal that no one be turned away from membership as a result of an inability to pay and all funds raised remain local.
The Madison Area YMCA, a nonprofit community organization, kicks off its Annual Campaign by raising funds through a staff appeal. The campaign then rolls out to Y Board members and Y members and the community in February, led by a group of over 60 volunteer campaigners.
