FLORHAM PARK, NJ - The Madison Chamber of Commerce held its annual Awards Dinner on June 10 at the Wyndham/Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center in Florham Park.
The dinner was attended by 110 guests, including Mayor Bob Conley. The evening included a buffet-style dinner, cash bar, door prizes and an awards ceremony that was held in the Ambassador Ballroom.
“The businesses and individuals are being honored for their dedication and support of Madison businesses and the community as a whole.” said Ken Toumey, president of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. “This fun event allows us to say Thank you and give recognition to those who make a difference”.
The chamber announced the winners of the Jack Morris Memorial Scholarship, various Business Improvement Awards, Community Service Awards and the community choice “Extra Mile Award.” This year's event, in celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Madison, also recognized families that have been in business in Madison for at least 50 years.
“The 50-year families are the foundation of our business community and continue to make Madison a great place to work and live,” said Carmine Toto, Jr. of C. Toto & Sons, Inc., 74 Keep St. “The Chamber as a group agreed that Madison’s 125th Anniversary was a very fitting time to give those Madison families a little recognition.”
Dr. Allison Adams of Adams Dental announced this year’s scholarship winners. Frank Iannarone IV, Abigail Raymaker and Jack D'Addario were all presented with individual checks for $1,000 each to help assist with their college goals.
The business improvement awards honored the Downtown Development Commission for Best Signage, K9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel, 22 Prospect St. for Best Renovation, The Rocking Horse, 10 Waverly Pl. and Starting Line Sports, 40 Main St. for Best ReLaunch. The Appreciation Award honored The Taste of Madison Committee and Doodlebugz, 55 Main St.
The Community Service award went to the Madison's Christmas Committee for their commitment in implementing the major holiday decorations and production of the holiday festivities in Madison.
The recipient of the Distinguished Service Award honored Dr. Allison Adams of Adams Dental for her continued support and service to the Chamber and Madison as a whole.
"We are so very proud to present Dr. Allison Adams with the Distinguished Service Award for the commitment she shows not only her patients but everyone who touches her life" Toumey said.
The Historic Business Awards recognized businesses for their longevity and service as a Madison business. The Chamber awarded the Madison Car Wash & Detail Center, 267 Main St., Madison Auto Body, 14 Kings Road, Madison PhotoPlus, 40 Main St., and Romanelli's Pizza & Italian Eatery, 42 Lincoln Pl. for their continued dedication to the community.
"The Chamber's Extra Mile Award recognizes Madison employees and business owners who provide outstanding customer service and go that extra step to make certain that when doing business, Madison is the only place to be." explained Chamber Executive Director, Karen Meyer, co-owner of Sprouts Consignment, 250 Main St.
The winner of this years community chosen award went to Gina Striffler and her staff at the Madison Bar Method.
"Gina and her staff at The Bar Method are recognized for their success in creating a family within their walls and for their overall commitment to their clients,” Meyer said.
“This evening allowed for some reflection and a lot of celebration and congratulations. There were a lot of people and businesses here to be recognized,” Toumey said. "We look forward to this event each year so we can honor those who make Madison a great place to live and work. Until next year...Love Madison, Shop Madison."
