MADISON, NJ - The Madison Chamber of Commerce held its annual Ladies Night Out on Thursday. The event began with attendees lined up at Doodlebugz on 55 Main St. The first 125 registrants received free gift bags, provided by chamber member businesses.
The event was attended by more than 150 women.
To direct event-goers, the chamber placed balloons outside participating businesses. Merchants served refreshments – croissants, wine, and more. Attendees received discounts and, with each purchase, raffle tickets for a chance to win two “swag bags,” large gift baskets donated by chamber member businesses containing goods and gifts cards.
Danielle Dixon, owner of d torr boutique on 36 Main St., collected and stored the items for both the gift and swag bags. When asked how the event benefits Madison, she said, “It’s a big draw to get people out for spring, to let the merchants show their new merchandise and what the town has to offer.”
As part of the Sidewalk Sounds program sponsored by the Downtown Development Commission, DJ Jake Fab and the band Rosewood performed. Sidewalk Sounds will continue to host local performers from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings from May 1 through Sept. 18.
Doodlebugz also held the Kids Night Out, which allowed parents to drop their kids off at registration for a LEGO, craft, and dance party.
Mark Fabyanski, vice-chairman of the DDC, said, “Ladies Night is a great way to get the buzz downtown, give the ladies in town a night for themselves. The chamber is really dedicated to making our downtown, our Main Street, a really fun place to be.”
