EAST HANOVER, NJ - Facing tall odds against a heavily favored opponent, the Madison varsity boys basketball team hung tough for a quarter against Hanover Park before the home team unleashed a big uprising.
Hanover Park pulled away with a 21-7 second quarter and rolled to a 61-35 victory over Madison in the opening round of the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 2 state tournament on Tuesday.
Kevin Armstrong led Madison with 10 points. John Crown finished with 14 points to pace Hanover Park (17-5). Madison trailed by just three, 15-12, after the first quarter. Hanover Park outscored the Dodgers, 34-14, in the middle two periods.
