ROCKAWAY, NJ - Madison saw a 16-point lead erased in a 37-36 loss to Morris Hills on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Dodgers, now 2-1 on the year, led 16-7 at halftime and held a 23-7 lead midway through the third quarter.
Morris Hills continued to claw its way back, and it took a 37-30 lead with 3:16 remaining. Madison later scored a TD (see below) and it appeared the game would be tied at 37, but the extra- point attempt was blocked.
Morris Hills did its damage on the ground. Joe Dawson ran for 186 yards on 13 carries with a pair of scores. Charlie Rex added 115 yards on 15 carries, and Josh Babe had a rushing score and a receiving one.
Morris Hills stayed undefeated and improved to 3-0 on the campaign. Madison will return to action on Friday night at Mountain Lakes.
