MADISON, NJ - The Madison High School girls’ varsity basketball team uprooted Dover High School, 46-6, in Friday’s season opener.
The Dodgers led 31-6 at halftime.
During the second quarter, captain Bridget McAndrew scored 24 points for the Dodgers, allowing Madison to jump out to their 25 point lead at halftime.
Madison was hoping for a big win to start the season off on a good foot. Last season, Madison struggled with a young team.
McAndrew said: "It's a really young team, so we really played well together for our first game."
Gabby Fuchs, the leading point scorer of the game, said its nice to see improvement from last year.
"We have a really young team and this year we want to just improve because last year we were all learning,” Fuchs said.
This year Madison's squad has only two seniors, the rest being sophomores along with freshman Mackaella Goodwin.
Fuchs said, "We were all very happy with the outcome."
