The Madison Recreation Complex Master Plan Advisory Committee is pleased to announce the dedication of the trails at the Madison Recreation Complex off Ridgedale Avenue on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. The committee is chaired by Council member Bob Landrigan and is composed of members from various Borough committees as well as residents.
Landrigan states: “This past year, the committee has been working on developing a plan for passive recreation at the Madison Recreation Complex. The internal trail system represents the first phase of our plan. Initially, the Boy Scouts blazed a trail under the leadership of Eagle Scout Joseph Falco. The Land Conservancy of New Jersey then worked with our trails sub-committee under the leadership of Councilwoman Astri Bailllie to continue the trail system. With the help of the Borough Engineer Bob Vogel, the Department of Public Works, Caruso Landscaping and many volunteers, the trail blazing of the looped trails began April 23. The trails are essentially complete except for the boardwalks over the wetlands. Once we get approval from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, we can do that work.”
The opening of the trails coincides with National Trails Day. The public is invited for the ribbon-cutting by Mayor Bob Conley, tours and refreshments.
