MADISON, NJ - Madison public schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 3 in anticipation of significant snowfall Thursday night.
The announcement was made Thursday evening, shortly after Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency in t New Jersey. Madison and surrounding communities in Morris County are forecast to receieve between 5 and 8 inches of snow overnight on Thursday, followed by frigid temperatures that may dip below zero degrees later on Friday.
The Madison Police Department has issued a statement that on-street parking will not be allowed in the borough Thursday night so that emergency vehicles, plows and salt trucks have clear access to roads in the community. Garbage collection for Friday has been cancelled, so residents must clear their garbage containers from the curb, as well.
