Madison Softball Team Advances with State Tourney Win over Ridgefield Park

MADISON, NJ - The Madison varisty softball team won its fifth consecutive game Saturday with a 4-2 victory over Ridgefield Park in the first round of the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 2 state tournament.

Stephanie Deeb pitched a five-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts for Madison (16-4). Alise Bassolino went 2-for-3 with a run scored, Alyssa DeBaisse delivered a triple and scored a run and the Dodgers scored all their runs in the fifth inning.

The Dodgers have allowed just four runs over their last four games. Prior to Saturday's triumph, Deeb had pitched consecutive shutouts over Parsippany and Whippany Park, with a no-hitter to defeat Whippany Park, 5-0, on Thursday. She struck out 10 and walked two in the no-hit effort.
