PATERSON, NJ - An 18-year-old city man was in critical but stable condition after being shot in the upper torso late Monday night on Albion Avenue.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, the victim sustained numerous gunshot wounds in the upper body.

"It appears that the victim was seated inside of a vehicle on Albion Avenue talking with a group of males when a male suspect approached," Murray said. "The suspect at that time produced a handgun and fired several times inside the vehicle, striking the victim, before fleeing the area on foot. The victim was able to drive to St. Joseph’s (Medical Center) seeking treatment, and is currently in critical but stable condition."

The investigation is continuing, and detectives are following up on  several positive leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carlos Charon or Prosecutor’s Detective Ricardo Ferreira of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
