Man Critical After Sunday Morning Shooting at Clinton St. Residence

PATERSON, NJ - A 28-year-old city man was in critical condition and undergoing surgery Sunday morning after being shot inside a residence on Clinton Street at 4:15 a.m.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray of the Ceasefire Unit, the victim apparently had just entered a residence on Clinton Street near North 1st Street when he was shot several times in the torso and the head. The shooting occurred in the hallway area of the residence, which was not where the victim himself lived.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center and was still in surgery as of early Sunday morning.

The investigation was continuing, and an apparent motive was still unclear. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carlos Charon or Prosecutor’s Detective Rick Ferreira of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
