PATERSON, NJ - A 26-year-old Paterson man is dead after a Tuesday shooting in the area of Van Houten Street and Summer Street, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora have announced.

According to the law enforcement officials, members of the Paterson Police Department were called to the area at approximately 8:03 p.m. on a report of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered Shaheem Jones, and a second male, 28, who both had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

Both men were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where Jones succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. The second victim is said to be in stable condition.
