Man Who Fled After Crashing Porsche Arrested

PATERSON, NJ- A Lake Hiawatha man that fled after crashing his 2017 Porsche near Public School 5 was arrested on Wednesday.

According to a statement by Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik, Passaic County Sheriff’s Officers tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop at approximately 9:46 p.m. on Saturday in the area of North 7th Street and Oxford Street. After crashing the vehicle the driver, whom detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit were able to identify as James A. Lauzinger, 48, fled on foot behind Hinchliffe Stadium.

Eight glassine envelopes were recovered from the interior of the Porsche, according to the report.

“Individuals need to know that if they flee from law enforcement they will be arrested,” Berdnik said in announcing that Lauzinger was located and arrested on Wednesday at the home of a female identified in the statement as Heather A. Lawson, in Elmwood Park,

Lauzinger was charged with three counts related to the drugs that were found and for eluding arrest. He also received 28 motor vehicle summons  and was found to have an active Passaic County Warrant and a criminal warrant for 1,000.00 out of Wayne Township.

Lawon was also found to have two active traffic warrants, one each in Elmwood Park and Pequanock Township, and three active criminal warrants, one each in Clifton, Verona and Elmwood Park, and subsequently arrested and transported to the Clifton Police Department.
