MADISON, NJ - A former borough resident who had been evading Madison police for the last four months was arrested at a Morristown bar Saturday night.
According to Madison police, Evan Scott, 26, formerly of Community Place in Madison, was arrested Saturday night at a Morristown bar where Scott was asked to leave by an employee of the bar for being disorderly.
The patron later returned to the bar numerous times demanding entry back into the establishment, saying he had "a right to celebrate." When Sgt. Sean Plumstead and Ptl. Luis Goncalves intervened, Scott told the officers he had just disembarked a plane from Bermuda and had a right to return to the bar.
Upon looking at the Bermuda driver’s license Scott presented, the officers realized that Scott was the same individual that had been avoiding apprehension on various outstanding assault charges stemming from a November 2013 incident in Madison.
Scott’s identity was confirmed and he was taken into custody and transported back to Madison Police headquarters for processing. Scott was unable to post $7,500 bail and was incarcerated at the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
