Maplewood & South Orange Prep for National Night Out

Maplewood National Night Out
 
Maplewood Police Department invites the public to join them in the National Night Out against crime.
National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, August 5th between the hours of 6 to 9PM. The event will take place at DeHart Park, Burnett Avenue in Maplewood NJ.
 
The event is to promote various crime prevention programs including: neighborhood watch groups, neighbor home security surveys and crime prevention tips. All members of the community are cordially invited to participate in this year's event.
 

The event is free to participants and will include food, drinks, music, video game truck, bounce house, dunk tank and other activities. Police car, firetruck and ambulance will be on display. Bike registration and home security survey sign up.
 
 
 
 
South Orange National Night Out
 
Join us on Tuesday, August 5 on Flood’s Hill for South Orange’s 5th Annual National Night Out.  
 
At 6:30pm, the event kicks off with live music featuring “Aisle Five” – a hot rock/pop cover band as well as a public safety fair where residents can learn more about various departments and organizations in town. 
 
There will be a Kids Zone with bounce houses, coloring stations, activities and free merchandise giveaways including tee-shirts, frisbees, balloons, and glow sticks. Food trucks and vendors will also be on site so come hungry!  
 
Then at 8:30pm, sit under the stars with some popcorn and cotton candy and enjoy “THE LEGO MOVIE” - don’t forget your blanket and lawn chairs!

Temporary Ice Rink Installed in South Orange's Meadowland Park

South Orange Village has installed a temporary ice rink in Meadowland Park for the winter months inside the tennis court area adjacent to the Baird.

The rink is open to South Orange residents with a current Recreation Department Membership I.D. and their guests. The guest fee is $5 per person per day.
