Maplewood Jitney Service Cancelled for Wednesday; Town Out of Road Salt

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Jitney service has been cancelled for Wednesday morning, February 5, reported Township Administrator Joseph Manning.  The reason is the combination of the weather forecast calling for ice and snow and the Township’s shortage of road salt.

“We will be plowing, but the roads will be icy,” Manning said.

Maplewood is not the only town to run out of salt this winter season.   Mayor Victor DeLuca said there are ten towns in Essex County reporting they have no salt.  It is on order, but apparently there is none to be had at the moment.
