MAPLEWOOD, NJ - During Tuesday night's meeting of Township Committee it was revealed that the Post Office redevelopment project will be going ahead as scheduled despite Kings Supermarket not relocating to the new site.
"I have not heard anything about how the plan will be revised now that there's no grocery store." said Township Committeeman Gerard W. Ryan.
Township Attorney Roger Desiderio responded, "My discussion with the developers is 'the plan is the plan.' It's going forward."
Also discussed was the new parking lot renovation at The Woodland, the property formerly known as the Women's Club. The western side of The Woodland parking lot will not be paved. This has been an issue about which the neighbors of the property have been concerned.
The Township will be connecting the Highland Place lot with the Woodland lot, with the project expected to be finished by early November. This will add eight new spaces, which will bring the total to 59.
Also, several new parking measures will be put in effect, including extending the parking time in the spaces in front of Valley Bank from 20 minutes to two hours.
Mayor Victor DeLuca and Committeewoman India Larrier were not present for the meeting.
