MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Township Committee is encouraging Maplewood residents to read the revised “June 10th” version of the Post Office Redevelopment Plan, which is posted on the Township's website (click here). A hard copy is also available for review in the Township Clerk’s office. The public will be given time to comment and make suggestions at the June 18 Township Committee meeting, which begins at 7 p.m.
The plan has been revised based on input from residents and business owners. The township has listened to public input regarding the site over the past 18 months at three community meetings, two Planning Board meetings, and several Township Committee meetings.
According to an official press release from the township, the schedule for the proposed plan is as follows:
· June 18th - Township Committee receives additional public input and may make changes to the proposed plan
· July 2nd - Township Committee introduces the proposed plan as an ordinance; the public may comment on the plan
· July 9th - Planning Board reviews the proposed plan and makes recommendations; the public may comment on the plan
· July 16th - Township Committee holds an official public hearing on the proposed plan and considers the ordinance for final passage; the public may comment on the plan
Once the plan is approved by the Township Committee, developers interested in the project will be given a Request for Qualifications/Letter of Interest. The town will expect submission of the RFQ/LOIs in September, and will then review proposals for approximately 90 days and choose a developer by the end of December.
