MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Mayor Victor DeLuca has sent details of his plans for Monday, the first day of same-sex marriage equality in the township:
11:30 a.m. - Pre-Wedding Ceremony with music, comments and the raising of the Rainbow Flag.
Noon - The first same-sex marriage will take place in the meeting room of the Municipal Building, 574 Valley St. Cable FIOS Channel 24 and Comcast Channel 35 will broadcast live. Mayor Victor De Luca officiating.
Monday afternoon weddings - No appointment needed - any couple in New Jersey can come by to be married - do not need to be Maplewood residents - must have a marriage license and have met the 72-hour waiting period if applicable or received a judicial waiver.
5 p.m. - Group Wedding Ceremony on the steps of the Maplewood Memorial Building - open to any couple in New Jersey.
