MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Zoning Board approved a resident’s application to install a generator to their present residence at Monday's meeting.
Applying with her husband and daughter in attendance, Mrs. Sobienski informed members of her interest in placing a generator. Citing Hurricane Sandy and several previous power outages, she explained its purpose to assist her husband who requires oxygen on a daily basis.
Referring to various layouts of her residence, she explained the generator’s planned location as economically and aesthetically straightforward, adding that it would not be seen or heard.
The board members passed the application with the intention of officially resolving it at the next meeting on May 5. Mrs. Sobienski was pleased with the eventual outcome and the board’s decision.
“There are rules and regulations for a reason and we respect them and we are pleased that the town was able to respond to our particular concern,” Sobienski said.
The zoning board members also passed official resolutions on two previous matters from their prior meeting at this session. Their next meeting will be held on Monday, May 5, at 8 p.m.
