Margaret Haddican-McEnroe Still Missing

October 9, 2013 at 12:00 AM

WARREN, NJ -  It's been almost seven years.   Margaret Haddican-McEnroe was reported missing by her husband Tim McEnroe on Thursday, October 12, 2006 two days after he last saw her at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10.

On Tuesday  October 10, McEnroe left the home at 1:30 p.m., and returned two hours later to find his wife missing and their infant child, six months old at the time, home alone, according to published reports. The reports indicated that McEnroe said cash was missing , but that his wife’s cell phone, broken during an argument the night before, and car were not.
Initial  reports indicated that there was no evidence of damage to the home.

Tim McEnroe has since been named a “person of Interest” in the investigation of his wife’s disappearance, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano and Michael B. Ward, Special Agent-In-Charge of Newark Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Teams of FBI Agents, assisted by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Warren Township Police Department, the New Jersey State Police Aviation and Missing Persons Units and the Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit have  canvassed  the neighborhood where  Haddigan-McEnroe lived with her husband, Tim McEnroe, and her three young children.  Haddican-McEnroe had two other children, 20 months and 9-years-old at the time, from previous relationships.

The area of investigation is along Dead River Road in Warren Township, near Acken Road and the Spring Ridge development in Bernards Township.

Subsequent investigations of the area around the home, found no new clues, including a search of the Dock Watch Hollow Road area just off Washington Valley Road. Dock Watch Hollow Road connects Washington Valley Road with Mount Horeb Road, and just off Washington Valley Road is an   unused, fenced in, quarry.

Margaret Haddican- McEnroe is described as 5  feet 2 inches tall, 110 pounds, brown eyes, brown hair and of a light complexion, with a tribal tattoo on her stomach, a firefighter’s helmet tattoo on her left thigh and multiple tattoos on her back, according to a  police description released at the time of her disappearance. She was a volunteer firefighter with the Mount Bethel Fire Company and previously with the Washington Valley Fire Company, both in Warren Township. In 1999, she  assisted in the evacuation efforts in Bound Brook during Tropical Storm Floyd.

She is an Army veteran who trained at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. and may have identification with her birth name, “Sherwood Halley.”  According to her husband she was last seen wearing a gray sweat shirt with “ARMY” written across the front in black letters, white plaid pajamas, white socks, and white Nike shoes. She also has a silver chain with military dog tags and a white gold wedding ring with three diamonds, and may also have a black military-style jacket and a black duffle bag with additional clothing, police said at the time.

A statue of an angel was erected  as a remembrance of Margaret  Haddican-McEnroe at the base of a tree in the prayer garden on the church grounds  of Our Lady of the Mount Church.

Soriano and Ward ask that anyone with information regarding this investigation contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Squad at (908) 231-7100, the FBI at (973) 792-3000 or the Warren Township Police Department at (908) 753-1000.  All calls are confidential.

Margaret Haddican-McEnroe's father Patrick Joseph Haddican, 75, of Warren, N.J., passed away on Friday, September 13, with his family by his side. Haddican's obituary from Higgins Funeral Home reads in part,"Patrick Haddican had resided in Warren since 1984. He honorably served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S Intrepid and the U.S.S Essex and worked for Lucent Technologies for over 40 years. In his retirement, he worked for the Warren Township Board of Education.

Patrick Haddican was a communicant of Our Lady of The Mount Roman Catholic Church and served on the Warren Recreational Commission for many years. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Mets and Jets. A loving and involved father and grandfather, happiest when spending time with his grandchildren, Haddican was famous for his Italian dinners, especially his meatballs.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Eileen Haddican; his daughters, Margaret, Christine, Adrienne, and Beth Ann; his brother, Edward Haddican; and his grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Melissa, and Cameron.
