HAMILTON, NJ -- The rest of the country will soon be able to see the joy that Martel's Christmas Wonderland has been bringing to central New Jersey for 33 years. The Hamilton family's Christmas workshop will be featured on this year's nationally televised Great Christmas Light Fight as one of a select few homes across the country contending to win the designation as the most festively adorned for the holiday.
While the show was taped last year at Martel's, the family announced on Wednesday morning that they will be featured on the December 16 episode which airs at 9:00pm ET on ABC. The show will kick-off their season on Wednesday, December 9 with families competing for a cash prize and the "Light Fight Trophy."
In a promotional video for the show, Bob Martel said the Wonderland is a three-generation project for the family to decorate the front and back yards where visitors walk through. They have special attractions such a working Ferris Wheel and swing as well as the world's first Christmas Mega-Ball!
The over-the-top Christmas attraction opened on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, and will remain open until New Year's Day. The Wonderland located at 21 Phillips Avenue in Hamilton is open daily at 5:00pm, weather permitting and closes at varying times depending upon crowd capacity or the temperatures. Visitors should check the Martel's Christmas Wonderland Facebook page for daily house prior to going there as they may change.
To keep guests safe during the health pandemic, face coverings are required even when taking pictures, and social distancing is urged. Unfortunately, Santa will not be visiting this year but his elves in the Martel Family are sure to bring some joy to families visiting.
