SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Audiences’ favorite practically perfect nanny will take center stage in the Terrill Middle School Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Spring Musical, Mary Poppins Jr., from March 1st through 3rd.
Mary Poppins, Jr. tells the tale of a magical English nanny, who is blown in by an east wind to 17 Cherry Tree Lane in London and into the lives of George and Winifred Banks and their children. This 75-minute, two-act production is based on a series of children’s books written by P.L. Travers and the 1964 classic Walt Disney film of the same title. Specially adapted for middle school performers, the show combines the timeless story, unforgettable songs, and breathtaking dance numbers that make Mary Poppins Jr. a smash hit.
Terrill Middle School’s production will feature a cast, crew and ensemble of 88 students. Opening night of the musical will take place on Friday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. followed by performances on Saturday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 3, at 2:00 p.m. Concessions and candygrams will be available during the 15-minute intermission.
Musical director Megan Fernandez, along with director Brianna Vitale, and choreographer Alexis Veglia, said: “We chose Mary Poppins, Jr. because it takes you on a magical journey with a family who realizes the importance of being kind and loving to others!”
