PATERSON, NJ- Six alleged drug dealers and dozens of their suspected customers were arrested in a two part operation that led to a total of 84 arrests and the seizure of 259 vials of crack cocaine, two bags of crack, and 930 glassines of heroin.
According to a press release by Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale, members of the Narcotics Division of the Paterson Police Department, in response to citizen complaints, began an investigation into illegal drug activity at 83 Auburn Street at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The area, Speziale noted, is an area well known to law enforcement as a center of drug activity.
Following the initial arrests, the report continues, law enforcement officials focused on arresting the countless drug buyers coming to that location looking to purchase narcotics, and eventually brought charges against an additional 72 suspected buyers, including 29 that were from out of town.

Speziale credited “community watch groups and partnerships” for helping to reduce crime in Paterson adding that the Paterson Police Department and Mayor Sayegh’s Administration are “committed to working together in making Paterson safer.”
