HAWTHORNE, NJ - Mayor Goldberg has released his new letter advising the borough of developments with respect to the pandemic.

Dear Friends,

Our numbers remained the same over the weekend: 437 total cases, 20 fatalities, and 1 active case down from 2. We, in Hawthorne, are crushing the curve. Keep using your masks and continue socially distancing.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

We continue to work at the Municipal Building, and hopefully in my Thursday letter I can report when the Municipal Building will reopen to the public.

Virtual meetings of the Council, Planning Board and Zoning Board will continue throughout the summer.

Our local restaurants seem to be doing well with outside dining. They still need our help, so please support them.

I want to thank all of you that have donated to our non-perishable food pantry. It shows our extraordinary community spirit. We are Hawthorne Strong.

The pool is open, and I’m hearing nothing but positive comments. Thank you to our patrons for their cooperation in adjusting to the socially-distanced pool experience. It’s nice to know that on these hot days we have a place to cool off.

The new playground at Goffle Brook Park is now open. If you go, remember to practice social distancing and consider bringing wipes to clean the surfaces before your child uses them.

Thank you all for doing your part to combat this virus; together we will prevail.

If you have problems or concern, please email me at rgoldberg@hawthornenj.org or call my office directly at 973-427-1168.

Mayor Richard S. Goldberg
