The South Plainfield Mayor’s Wellness Committee and the South Plainfield High School Student Council Advisor Anthony Encinas and student assistants hosted the 11st annual blood drive on February 5, 2019 at the South Plainfield High School auditorium in conjunction with the New Jersey Blood Services, a division of New York Blood Center, Genevieve Toscano, located in New Brunswick, NJ.  Planning began in May, 2018,  allowing residents, high school staff, students age 16 with parental permission along with students 17 years and older to participate in giving “The Gift of Life”.  There were 65 donors registered, 20 deferral, 23 whole blood, 12 Alyx machine donors which supplied 24 units.  Joseph Anesh donated the “gift of life” as a first time donor on the Alyx machine and pictured below is first time donor Jessica LaCross.  Pictured below are the student assistances:  Bernice Ndegwa, Michelle Pastuna, Lauren Zultowski, Maggy Mogollon.
