Committeewoman Carolann Garafola said, “We would like to recognize a number of volunteers who have come out on their own accord, on their own time, and have given up time with their family to volunteer for a number of activities in the recreation commission. You're  making Warren Township a pleasant place to live."
Committeeman Mick Marion said, “Being an elected official, and sitting up here, you think about how to make the township a better place and it always falls back on the residents and our volunteers, so thank you very much.”

Cunha is the youngest of three. She has two older brothers. She is known as a hard worker with a great sense of right and wrong. She volunteered over 155 hours for the Warren Township Recreation Summer program, Kindergarten camp, Annual Bonfire and Letters to Santa. She is an altar server at Our Lady of the Mount in Warren where she volunteers often. Melanie is also an athlete, who plays travel soccer and also made the Varsity Soccer team her freshman year. She is on the track team and plays basketball too.Her goal is to be a teacher or a nurse; she loves working with children and is a babysitter on occasion. She is a very unselfish person with an honest heart.

The Summer Playground Director said about Melanie:,"Melanie was an asset to the Warren Recreation Summer Playground Program. As a camper in the program Melanie was friendly and energetic. She came back to camp this year as a volunteer and shared the same enthusiasm with all of our campers. The campers loved having Melanie as a CIT. She brought a smile to each of the children’s faces with her entertaining nature. We were blessed to have Melanie join our camp as a CIT. Tonight; we honor Melanie Cunha as the 2013 Youth Volunteer of the Year.

MADISON, NJ – It’s clear the Welsh love to sing as the evening moves on with relatives gathering for Christmas dinner at the Thomas home in Wales.

Family Portraits After the Death of a Family Member

One of the gifts of working in the field of children’s grief support is the support I receive from my family and friends. They always have their eyes peeled for interesting articles that relate to grief and loss. Usually they send the articles to me with a kind note, like “this made me think of you” or “thought you’d be interested in this!”

When one reads an historical novel by Philippa Gregory, s/he is transported magically through the power of words to that era. Given the turbulence of the recent political scene in America, returning once again to the complicated and violent Tudor reign helped me to escape the ugliness of the ...
