CHATHAM, NJ -Debra Blanchard has lived in Chatham for 27 years, but her latest move has her feeling right at home doing business at 82 Main Street, where she has opened Meli Melo Home.
Meli Melo Home will be offering a "Ladies Night Out" on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will feature "Lite Bites, Sips.." and, of course, a discount on purchases and complimentary gift wrapping.
Blanchard's shop features furniture, home accessories, jewelry and fine gifts that can't be found in retail establishments. It was a business she started in Basking Ridge, moved to Bernardsville and then relocated to Chatham, where she is celebrating her 10th anniversary on Tuesday, April 22.
"It was time to come home," said Blanchard, who resides on Lafayette Avenue.
Meli Melo Home has an elegant feel that has been nurtured by Blanchard, who has traveled to find antiques and unique pieces that catch her discerning eye.
"I wanted to create an environment that was a feel, an emotional environment that's very eclectic and pleasing to your eye," Blanchard said. "I just travel all over. We're probably known for our gifts. Things that are very unique and an unordinary approach to fine living."
Meli Melo Home also offers a table-top line by Michael Aram and custom upholstery by Lee Industries.
"I'm really trying to promote a line of upholstery from Lee Industries, which is made in the United State," Blanchard said.
Inspiration collections, framed art, mirrors, rugs and lamps are all on display at Meli Melo Home.
"It feels great to be here," Blanchard said. "I commuted to New York for the first 17 years I was in Chatham and the last 10 years I've been in business. I'm getting myself reacquainted in town."
