SPARTA, NJ- As they have done for approximately 20 years, members of the Sparta Kiwanis planted flowers around the monument at the Ungerman Field Flag pole and along the walk way at the Sparta Library.  Dodging storm clouds and rain drops seven men took ot the task of planting the red, white and blue flowers in a neat pattern.

In past years they have also planted at the monument in front of the VFW post in Sparta.  This year, weather delays changed the scheduling and by the time they were ready to plant, a generous layer of  mulch had already been spread into that flower bed, so they were not able to plant in that location.

The men that donated their time in this community service of beautification and respect were Frank Cannistra,  Randy Earl, Scott Friedland, Jack Healey, Rob Lengen, Mike Mangus and Jeff Mullen.
