NORRISTOWN, Pa. - Montgomery County Treasurer Jason Salus announced that, in response to requests for more fishing opportunities, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) has expanded the popular Mentored Youth Trout Days program.
According to Salus, the program will now include all trout waters stocked by the PFBC and
managed under Commonwealth inland regulations. A list of these sites in Montgomery County
can be found by visiting http://www.fishandboat.com.
“There are many beautiful locations throughout Montgomery County to spend an afternoon on
the water. I am pleased that the PFBC has expanded this wonderful program for our residents,”
said Salus.
The first Mentored Youth Trout Day will be held on March 28 in the southeastern counties and
the second will be held statewide on April 11. Mentors and children can each keep two trout,
which must be at minimum of seven inches.
Youth under the age of 16, noted Salus, are required to obtain a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit
or a Voluntary Youth Fishing License and be accompanied by an adult mentor angler who has a
current fishing license and trout permit to fish in a 2015 Mentored Youth Fishing Day Program.
Licenses may be purchased at the Treasurer’s office which is located on the sixth floor of One
Montgomery Plaza in Norristown. For more information or with any questions please contact
Treasurer Salus’ office at treasurer@montcopa.org or by calling (610) 278-3066.
