FANWOOD, NJ -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s Next Stage Ensemble will present William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream on the front lawn of the Fanwood Memorial Library on Friday, August 8th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
One of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage, A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy that portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors (mechanicals) who are controlled by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set.
“Every summer we have programs for children and families on Mondays as part of our summer schedule,” said Susan Staub, children’s librarian and Fanwood Memorial Library. “This year we had a small Shakespeare workshop for young people to put on some scenes and this presentation (rescheduled from July 14) is in conjunction with it. Bring blankets or lawn chairs; we are hoping for wonderful weather and a great turnout.”
The The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s Next Stage Ensemble was created to foster the work of early career actors and to train them in ensemble-based performance techniques.
