MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn and Montclair boys' varsity soccer teams ended their game as it started, tied 0-0 after double overtime.
Both goalies had seven saves each and Millburn’s Marc Langendorff had a diving game-saving stop late in overtime.
Both teams played tough defense throughout the game, however Montclair drove the ball down the field and nearly scored on Millburn twice in the seond half. The Millers managed to hold Mounties off and keep the game scoreless with several close saves by Marc Langendorff.
Montclair had won the first contest between the two teams on Sept. 12.
“Montclair beat us last time so we are definitely happy to better that result,” said Millburn’s Evan Bograd after the game. “That being said, our performance against Montclair was not good enough because our goal is to win the state championship.”
Montclair is currently ranked 15th in the The Star-Ledger Top 20 while Millburn did not make the list.
Montclair’s record for is 5-2-2 so far this season, while the Millers are now 4-3-2. Millburn’s next game is this Tuesday at West Essex.
