We were out and about in Union, New Jersey, at The White Castle where Krunal Patel, manager of The White Castle provided a Valentine's Day dinner with red tablecloths, balloons, candlelight, dimmed lighting & waitress service.
The classic original burgers, French fries & onion rings were delicious. To add calories & fun to the evening the deserts were fabulous. Dr. Alan Kaplan, a dentist who has a practice in Metuchen, and a resident of Millburn, was there with his fiancé and another couple. He said, "The double cheese burger was "the bomb." Another guest, Marlene said, "The chocolate milk shake with lollipop cheesecake was to die for." Ellen said this was the "Best Valentine's Day ever!" We really had so much fun. Yes it's different, and yes we could always go to a "normal" restaurant.
The grilled chicken was not grilled, it was fried, but that's what makes White Castle...White Castle.
Mr. Patel had a total of 120 folks with reservations and for 7 years White Castle has been offering this awesome setting. They were received so well that they now offer special events like this on Christmas, Father's and Mother's Day. We saw families & couples enjoying a very unique experience.
The waitress’s name was Ayzha, a 17-year-old senior at Union High School who's working to help pay for various car expenses, gas and insurance. As a financial planner ... I was very proud of her :))
It was BYOB & I saw champagne, white & red wine & beer. You can find pictures of the event on their website at www.whitecastle.com , (go to promotions , then V Day) although on this night no engagements or weddings took place , they've been known to have this happen before . .
I'm Saul Simon reporting :)))
Until next year.
