MILBURN, NJ — Starting next week, Millburn Township will make a change in the scheduling of its downtown corridor, which has been closed off for outdoor dining between Millburn Avenue and Essex Street since June.

As of Sunday, continued closure of the street will now be scheduled on a week-to-week basis. The decision comes as the winter months approach. In the post on the website, Millburn Township said it will "continue to evaluate the utilization and effectiveness of the closure, taking into consideration weather changes and school re-openings, and communicate scheduling decisions accordingly."

In August, when interviewed by TAPinto Millburn/Short Hills, merchants in the downtown space said that the closure was a major help, and allowed them to make up for a portion of the indoor business lost to COVID.

As of now, the end of the closure period on Main Street will be Monday, October 5 at 7:00 a.m.
