PHILADELPHIA, PA - Millburn High School's Forensics Team visited the University of Pennsylvania for a national tournament from February 14-18, with participants coming in from across the country. Millburn sent 29 students to participate in 12 different events, of whom 15 broke in their respective categories.
The team sent juniors Denis Zou and Ishan Pandey to the round robin for Public Forum, and three public forum teams went on to break at the tournament: junior team Sam Eglow/Andrew Llama proceeded to the semifinals and the teams of Ishan Pandey/Denis Zou and Arik Wolk/David Yaffe both broke to double-octofinals. Denis Zou was also ranked as the fourteenth overall speaker out of the 182 speakers in PF.
In novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Adam Liu was an octofinalist and Chris Sun was the runner up. Mark Wang and Charlie Zhang both advanced to octofinals in Varsity LD.
Isabella Waung came in 7th place and Muskaan Garg broke to semifinals in declamation. Angela Jin was also a semifinalist in extemporaneous speaking.
Both Anish Naik and Aaron Friedman were semifinalists in UPenn's Congress event. In Congressional Debate, high school students emulate members of the United States Congress by debating bills and resolutions.
