Millburn High School Winter Band Concert, February 3rd

The Music Department of Millburn High School proudly presents the annual Winter Band Concert on Wednesday, February 3 at 7:30 P.M. in the high school auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. Ensembles are under the direction of Ms. Mindy Scheierman, Director of Bands and Mr. Matthew Spatz, Associate Director of Bands.

This concert will feature the Concert Band, an ensemble of ninth grade musicians, who will perform "Imperial March," by Karl King, and additional works by Brian Balmages, Douglas Akey and Erik Morales. The Wind Ensemble, an advanced ensemble of accelerated level band students grades 9-12, will perform the first movement of Gordon Jacob's "William Byrd Suite," and "Suite Provencale" by Jan Van der Roost. Two separate Symphonic Bands, comprised of musicians in grades 10, 11, and 12, will perform works by Henry Fillmore, Karl King, Carl Strommen, Robert Sheldon, Claude T. Smith and Frank Ticheli.

This concert will also feature the seventeen students accepted to the 2010 North Jersey Region I Bands and the five students accepted to the 2010 New Jersey All State Band. "The students have worked at such a high level and are excited to present this concert to the public. It will prove to be another enjoyable evening of music at MHS," notes Ms. Scheierman.
