MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn Municipal Alliance Committee (MMAC) supports the 2019 National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week® in an initiative to provide teens with facts and scientific information about drugs and alcohol in an effort to Shatter the Myths about drugs and alcohol that teens get from the internet, social media, TV, movies, music, or from friends. We believe that when teens are armed with facts and information, they make smart choices when it comes to drugs and alcohol. We also believe that it is important for teens to share vetted information so that they develop an accurate perception of drug and alcohol use in their environment. National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week began in 2010 and is supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).
On January 24th, teens from around the United States will participate in the annual National Drug and Alcohol Chat Day. A panel of experts will be available to answer real questions from real teens about issues that they are concerned about such as questions about the effects of specific drugs or how to help a friend that you suspect may have substance abuse issues. MMAC will be sharing out information though its Facebook group throughout the week including links to videos and quizzes that can be excellent conversation starters.
