WEST ORANGE, NJ – Millburn parents and educators let the good times roll on Saturday night as they celebrated the work of the Millburn Education Foundation at its annual “Millburn Schools Rock” event, which was held at Crestmont Country Club with the theme Pardi Gras.

Foundation President, Amy Talbert, was thrilled with the event, and said, “I have an amazing committee that put this all together,  And it works year after year because of the dedication and hard work of the committee and volunteers.”

The evening featured live bidding via smartphones on a huge array of donated prized.  In a new, high tech twist on the silent auction, bidders were notified via text message when an item they had bid on was in danger of going to someone else.

“This is a wonderful evening,” said Wyoming School principal, Peter Mercurio.  “We’re grateful to the Ed Foundation for supporting our schools with smart technology.”

“All of this would not be possible without the support of the local community,” added Kathy Pina, Instructional Supervisor and Assistant Principal at the Wyoming School.

“It is an honor to be Presenting Sponsor of Millburn Schools Rock,” said Karen Howells of Prominent Properties, Sotheby’s International Real Estate.  “Having this opportunity to support the children gives us an incredible feeling.”

The event is also a great chance for Millburn parents to meet and talk to school officials in a more relaxed and social setting.

“It’s a great event,” said District Superintendent James Crisfield.  “ The Ed Foundation partnership is so important to us.  Funding is very tight now, so having an awesome event like this and a partnership like this is very important.”

As the evening progressed, guests enjoyed a variety of international foods, drinks, including Pardi Gras Hurricanes and dancing courtesy of the non-stop DJ’s on duty.

“It’s great to see so much support for the school system,” said Millburn High School principal, Dr. William Miron.

The event was a huge success by all accounts, and would not have been possible without the support of its sponsors: Presenting Sponsor, Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty; All-Star Sponsor, Investor’s Bank; and Rock-Star Sponsors Ray Catena Auto Group, The Lenner Family, Simon Westfall-Kwong, Realtor Keller Williams, Comprehensive Orthopaedics, P.A., and Dr. Clifford Schob.
