MILLBURN, NJ - The Glen Avenue bridge is slated to reopen this Friday, June 20. A ceremony is scheduled for Friday, at 9 a.m. to commemorate the opening of the bridge.
Glen Avenue has been closed at the site since February. The work has been completed ahead of the anticipated date, according to Township Business Administrator Tim Gordon.
“Rehabilitating the Glen Avenue Bridge is a much-needed improvement that will benefit motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians,” Essex County Executive Joeseph DiVincenzo said in February when construction began. “This is a very complex project because of the water, electric and gas utility lines that run under the bridge.”
Since the County closed the road, traffic delays have been commonplace on Essex Street, Old Short Hills Road, Lackawanna Place, Millburn Avenue and Main Street.
