Millburn's Updated Environmental Resource Inventory Will Help Planners

MILLBURN, NJ – Local administrators have posted a newly updated inventory of the township’s environmental resources, which can be viewed at

The inventory, completed in March, updates a 2005 document and was prepared for the township’s Environmental Commission by Amy S. Greene Environmental Consultants of Flemington.

“The report gives a snapshot of Millburn’s resources, including history, climatology, geology, soils, water resources, air quality, wetlands, land use, and vegetative cover and wildlife,” said Environmental Commission chair Jennifer Duckworth. “Interesting maps of Millburn, interspersed with text and tables, provide many facts about the town.”

Among the new maps in the inventory are civic districts and historic places, steep slopes, wellhead protection and known contaminated sites, FEMA floodplain and bicentennial trees.

“The final chapter provides recommendations for future activities,” Duckworth added.

The 245-page inventory is to be presented to the Planning Board at an upcoming meeting. The document should serve to inform the Environmental Commission, Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment about resources for protection and planning, according to Duckworth.

Updating the document regularly is a responsibility of the Environmental Commission. Recommended edits can be sent to
