BELMAR, NJ — Since being crowned Miss New Jersey in June, Jade Glab has been quite busy traveling the state in her quest to become Miss America.

And it’s been quite a journey for the 20-year-old Belmar resident, who has made dozens of personal appearances and taken thousands of photographs in her role as an ambassador for the Miss New Jersey Education Foundation. But most importantly, she has been able to combine her musical talent with her social impact initiative for the competition, “Healthy Children, Strong America.”

Glab has developed an interactive presentation for children that stresses the importance of healthy eating in an entertaining, yet educational way. She’s taken her musical background and written rap-style songs with lyrics easy for children to remember and to get them on their feet.

“Most children learn their ABCs through singing and dancing. So I thought that would be a good way to remember healthy eating habits as well,” said Glab, a classically trained vocalist who also plays the acoustic guitar, flute and piano. “If we can make healthy equate to fun, we can help children develop healthy eating habits early in life.”

She has given her upbeat, assembly-style presentation to children in schools and at community events throughout the state during her reign, including a performance outside the RWJBarnabas Health Wellness on Wheels van.

She even has her own website — — to promote the benefits of the program, which meets N.J. Department of Education standards for comprehensive health and physical education.

“I’ve been able to combine my passion for music and my commitment to empower young people to take control of their health before it takes control of them,” said Glab, who herself overcame health issues when she was diagnosed with high cholesterol at age 11.

With just weeks remaining before the 2020 Miss America competition, Glab not only continues her trek across the state with meet-and-greets and school assemblies, but she’s completing two courses at Brookdale Community College — where she graduated in May — in preparation for entering the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

The Miss America competition will be aired live at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 19 on NBC. It is being held this year at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

A send-off party honoring Miss New Jersey Jade Glab will be held on Sunday, November 24 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Salt Creek Grille in Rumson.

Tickets are $65 and include a buffet lunch, dancing and the opportunity to meet with Glab before she competes in the Miss America competition on December 19.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, November 17. They can be purchased by clicking here.
